Removal Guide – How to remove your press ons

How to remove your press ons

Removing your press ons the right way protects your natural nails underneath. Follow the steps below for an easy, damage free removal.

What you need

  • A bowl of warm water
  • A bit of soap
  • Any oil you have at home (not your expensive nail oil)
  • A wooden cuticle stick
  • A nail buffer
  • Nail oil (for after removal)

Step by step

Step 1: Soak your nails

Mix warm water with a bit of soap and a splash of oil in a bowl. Soak your nails in it for a few minutes and gently wiggle them until you feel the press ons loosening.

Step 2: Remove the press ons

Once they feel loose, gently remove them. It should never hurt. If it does, they are simply not ready yet. You can help them along by carefully lifting the edge with a wooden cuticle stick, then soaking them in the warm water for a few more minutes before trying again.

Tip: Never force or pull a press on off. A little patience and extra soaking time protects your natural nails.

Step 3: Clean up and nourish

Wash your hands and dry them well. Gently buff away any leftover glue residue, then wash your hands once more. Finish by applying nail oil to nourish your natural nails.
